Something Different This Christmas: Hot Apple Gin
If you’re looking for something festive and fun to serve at your Christmas party, or maybe you just fancy a sweet treat whilst snuggled up on the sofa, then look no further...
Introducing our absolutely delicious Hot Apple Gin!
Developed by our very own co-founder Amy who has never particularly enjoyed mulled wine at Christmas time or at all, came up with what we believe to be a new season staple for all!
Our yummy apple concoction was first made during the winter of 2018 using our classic Pin Gin London Dry. However, this year we chose to switch up the recipe a little, replacing our Pin Gin London Dry with Pin Gin Spiced.
Since we made the change our Hot Apple Gin has become an absolute hit at the various events that we have recently attended across Lincolnshire and beyond. Including the recent Batemans Christmas Market. Our hot apple gin was so popular that our very own Mixologist Tom had to run down to the local store and grab more supplies. Crazy right!?
If you are heading to one of our upcoming events you can expect to see our yummy apple creation there too, and it’s pretty great... if we do say so ourselves. If you’re super busy during the Christmas period and cannot make it over to see us at an event, we’re giving you the recipe so you can make and enjoy your own flavoursome hot apple gin in the comfort of your home!
It’s super easy to make our delicious Hot Apple Gin, here’s what you will need:
250ml Pin Gin Spiced
1.5L Pressed Apple Juice (not from concentrate)
1-2 Cinnamon Sticks
2-3 Star Anise pieces
2-3 Dried Ginger pieces*
Drizzle of Honey*
Please note: ingredients marked with a * are optional.
Now time for the fun part... how to make our Hot Apple Gin:
Slice your orange into quarters or smaller if you prefer a more obvious citrus taste.
Grab your preferred saucepan or slow cooker and place on a low heat.
Now it’s time to add your ingredients: Pin Gin Spiced, apple juice, star anise, orange pieces and cinnamon sticks. (We recommend slightly cracking the cinnamon sticks to release a more intense flavour.)
Add the optional ginger and honey. (If you decide to add honey, it is best to drizzle onto a spoon first and stir in.)
Allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Time to serve in the glassware of your choice, you could even serve in your favourite festive mug for a true christmassy feel. On the other hand, if you fancy taking your gin out to a Christmas market or fayre, pour into your reusable travel mug or hip flask. Well, that’s only if you’re walking or getting a lift though...
Remember to follow us on Instagram and to tag us in your hot apple gin creations. We are so excited to see them!
All that’s left to say is... cheers!
